Thanksgiving

Christine Benvenuti

And so...
Why on only but one, single, day?
Is there not a mere moment you could call a gift?

Perhaps two days from eight weeks ago - or-
maybe the next time the sky is up.

Or by chance, if the soles of our feet
allow our souls to meet at the corner of two boulevards.

And so...
Why on only but one, single, day?
One time only?
The fourty-seventh Thursday of this very year?

My eyes are weak from gazing...
In the direction of the "blue,"
And my soul is stirred with excitement,
As it embraces a new friend
At the intersection of "endless" avenues.

This is a great poem to read after Thanksgiving, when everyone has shifted from being thankful-minded to being shopping-minded. Thanks for visiting and sharing your art with us, Christine!

Christine, thanks for blessing our blog with this very cool poem!
"Or by chance, if the soles of our feet
allow our souls to meet at the corner of two boulevards." This line is particularly well done!
Thanks Christine and please add to the blog again or better yet...come to the group too!!

Every day is a blessing. We are all missionaries in the WORLD. If we could only remember THAT when we leave the door each day and as we come home each night. Welcome to the blog.

Yes, Christine, if you'd like to join us, we're meeting Tuesday in the annex at 7:00... Oh, you'll probably be at choir practice, huh? But you are always welcome:)
